Brief Description
Resiliency Training for MSHP employees
Full Description
This 7-hour resilience-focused training, led by Annette T. Hill, LPC author of The Journey of Me, LLC, is designed for first responders and military personnel. It explores the long-term mental health impacts of unaddressed career-related crises and provides practical strategies to support adaptability and well-being throughout and beyond one’s service.

Joining as a co-facilitator is CSM (ret.) Greg Birch, now Deputy Birch, who brings over 30 years of leadership and peer counseling experience from Army Special Operations. His insights into what’s effective—and what’s lacking—in current mental health training will be integrated throughout the session, offering a grounded, operational perspective.

The training does not require personal disclosures but encourages open discussion to support clarity and understanding. Participants are welcome to bring significant others. Each training is limited to 40 attendees.

Key Topics Include:
*Brain function and trauma: how stress and trauma shape memory, emotion, and behavior.
*PTSD: biological roots, symptom purpose, and resolution strategies.
*Moral Injury: differentiation from PTSD and its complexities.
*Grief and Loss: cultural influences, cumulative impact, and healing timelines.
*Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): implications and support.
*Substance Use: development, social impact, treatment, and recovery.
*Suicide: personal experiences and witnessing impact.
*Overlapping symptoms and treatment approaches.
*Leadership challenges: evaluating current strategies and exploring new ones.
*Cultural dynamics: improving engagement across ranks and peer support.
