Technical Programs - 2025 Field Training Officer (FTO)

Full Description: Prerequisite:  None

Course Description:  This comprehensive training provides information for the implementation of an effective field training program within a department.  The course will cover all aspects of the field training program to include recruit officer orientation, communication, motivation, principles of learning, evaluation, and termination.

Who Should Attend:  Those officers assigned as field training officers and those assigned to supervise new officers.

Cost:
$425 - tuition and meals
$50 per day for lodging
***Academy lodging is limited for 2025 and will be granted if it is available, if not you will be notified via email and will need to make other arrangements.***

Tuition/Registration Fees:  Registration fees are due 7 business days prior to the start of the class, if not paid by that time the student will not be allowed to attend the course.  Forty-eight (48) hour notice of cancellation is required for full tuition refund.  Exceptions to the refund policy will be made at the discretion of the Director of Training.

Continuing Education Hours:
14 hours of Technical Studies
   4 hours of Interpersonal Perspectives
   2 hours of Skill Development
   2 hours of Legal Studies

Mineral Area College Credit:  1 hour
